Carrey & Cruz Round Two

Star of The Mask, Jim Carrey and Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz are facing off, again! Following a failed pro-abortion tweet about Alabama’s Republican Governor Kay Ivey, the movie man took to Twitter referring to Cruz as, “some greasy Joe McCarthy wanna-be…lecturing me in the press about morality and civility.”

The Liar Liar star went on to call out Cruz for his “hypocrisy” on the loss of women’s rights, gun violence, drug companies and the “unnecessary war in Iran”.

This war of words began with the celeb’s reaction to Alabama passing the most restrictive abortion law in America. Prompting Carrey to tweet an image of Ivey being aborted, saying, “I think if you’re going to terminate a pregnancy, it should be done sometime before the fetus becomes Governor of Alabama.”

In response Cruz wrote, “This is not OK, Today’s Left: vicious, angry & consumed by hate. Instead of insults & dehumanizing rage, we should return to civility.” The Senator added, he disagrees with the politics of the movie star but respects his humanity, “I wish he could reciprocate,” Hashtag, “Love is stronger than hate.”

This is not the first time Carrey and Cruz have faced off. Just before Beto O’Rourke fell to Cruz for the Senate seat last year the movie star tweeted, “say yes to socialism.”

This war of words offers a reminder to us all to guard the tongue as we are admonished in James 3:6. Fellowship Home Loans stands for truth and integrity and we pray people of faith will speak blessings instead of curses on social media and beyond.
