Biography
Luis went to Penn State via a scholarship in track and field. His first job after graduating was in banking and mortgages for a small firm, Northwest Financial. In total, Luis has been in banking and mortgages for 18 years. Growing up bi-lingual, a fluency in Spanish helps Luis connect with Fellowship’s current and future Latino customers.
“I have been with Fellowship for three and a half years. My career is mostly in working for bigger banks, for Wells Fargo, and Washington Mutual, Bank of America, Chase. I always thought growing up that these bigger banks are sound, it’s a good place to have a career and work the ladder.”
During the 2008 bank crash, Luis and others had already begun to question the operations of the banks they worked at. Luis soon stepped over to Fellowship, eager to pursue the same line of work with a different mentality.
“We always do the right thing here. With bigger banks, they always look at the bottom line of profits, and not necessarily look at the consumer. The bigger banks got so large that they would outsource different carriers of the loan process. You might walk into a bank in New York, and then they hit a button and the loan might get processed in Florida, it was spread out. The loans take forever, they might take three months to close. With Fellowship, everything is under one roof, processing and underwriting and sales.”
